Tried and Tested Financial Planning Process

by JPE Brokers

An initial meeting to discuss your personal and business circumstances in order to determine your financial planning needs. This will typically include:

  • Your professional duties (in order to determine which type of income replacement products to utilise in the event of not being able to work due to a temporary sickness or more permanent disability).
  • Gross professional income (in order to know how much cover is required).
  • Debt – in order to provide solutions to eliminate lump sum debt should you pass away, so that your family does not have to worry about it or in the event of disability, so that you would not have to worry about it.
  • Income requirements for your family should something happen to you.
  • Your property and investment portfolio as well as trusts for capital gains tax and estate planning purposes.
  • Retirement planning: When do you envisage yourself retiring and how you would like to retire financially in order to utilise appropriate retirement funding investment vehicles both for investment as well as for income-tax purposes.
  • Investments. A general discussion on how you are saving. Investment solutions plus management thereof are discussed and proposed.
  • Education planning for your children. Your wishes are discussed in order to provide appropriate solutions.

Depending on if you are working as an employee or if you are in private practice, your role in the company is discussed in order to ensure that appropriate planning is implemented. If you are in private practice and working with partners, solutions such as buy-and-sell agreements, key person insurance, a business contingency plan, loan accounts etc. are discussed.

Short-term insurance needs (both for personal and business).

We then do an analysis of all your existing solutions and, taking your personal and business requirements as discussed above into consideration, we offer independent solutions to be discussed in our second meeting. Our solutions include the most appropriate products from all the relevant companies across the board which typically includes: PPS, Discovery, Allan Gray,Sanlam, Momentum, Liberty, Altrisk, OASIS and Glacier.

Once you are comfortable with the best solution for your needs (which may comprise of different solutions across the spectrum of companies), we assist you in implementing the changes to your portfolio, or the introduction of new solutions, and manage your portfolio going forward. This will usually include a bi-annual or annual visit depending on your preference. Our service level agreement includes access to information, service or assistance at any time.

Our collective experience and qualifications range over a 60 year period, and include a BA, RFP, CFP and even a National Diploma in Accountancy and Higher Certificate in IT: Support Services.

We pride ourselves as being professional, efficient, honest, forward thinking and ahead of our game technologically (not to mention witty and fun to work with!), and our services include access to your portfolio electronically, using your unique username and password for monitoring purposes or to stay in contact with your personal financial planner, to change your personal information or request certain changes such as a debit order change, beneficiary change or just to access important documents such as your trust deed, copy of your ID or to get a summary of your investments.
